Man

Now everybody knows how google was able to come up with such fantastic AJAX based applications like Google Maps and Gmail without any major bugs. It is called Google Web Toolkit

http://code.google.com/webtoolkit/

It transforms Java Applications into web based Ajax based Applications which are cross platform and work on almost all browsers.

I stumbled across this yesterday, it's a flash ajax technique that uses a 1px * 1px flash movie to parse xml thus removing the requirement for complex crossbrowser javascript when producing rich apps.

I've not actually tried it yet, but may well give it a go soon.

http://www.fjax.net it seems like a very clever lightweight solution.
